• Speaker: Ermioni Athanasiadi, a PhD candidate at the University of Siegen, specializes in missing data methodologies. Her unique academic background, which includes a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Tübingen and another Master’s in Statistics and Data Science at Hasselt University in Belgium, positions her well to guide this session.

Workshop Description: This session will cover the essentials of multiple imputation—an established strategy for addressing missing data in research. While many rely on the mice package, Blimp offers a flexible software alternative that operates within a fully Bayesian structure. This is more significant than it looks: traditional methods like mice can sometimes fall short in effectively handling complex missing data patterns. Participants will gain knowledge about constructing imputation models, utilizing auxiliary variables, evaluating convergence, and performing post-imputation diagnostics, which are vital steps in ensuring the accuracy of their findings. The workshop further discusses how to conduct pooled analyses with multiple imputed datasets, a step that’s often overlooked but essential for robust statistical analysis.
